OConnor 2560

OConnor calls the 2560 the 2575's baby brother, and that is a fair description: it brings the Ultimate feel down into a head sized for the a la carte digital cinema rig rather than a full studio build. It is aimed squarely at an Alexa in portable configuration, or any lightweight digital cinema body from Sony, Canon, ARRI, AJA, JVC, Panasonic, Vision Research, or RED built out to its maxed-out studio configuration. What you are paying for is the continuously adjustable sinusoidal counterbalance working with the fluid drag: between them they hold true balance across the whole payload range, so the camera stays where you leave it and a move starts smooth instead of snatching. OConnor Ultimate heads have been under the camera on nearly every Hollywood feature and episodic drama since the early 1990s.

The housing is magnesium under a carbon fiber cover, which is where the power-to-weight comes from at 16.2 lb. Controls sit in the cine standard positions, brakes included, with a front handle mount so you can position the camera by hand without reaching around the head. The sideload platform takes the camera on from the side rather than making you drop it in from above, and the head will sit on either a Mitchell base or a 150mm ball. This package is built around the Ultimate 2560 fluid head (C1260-0002) and includes the Euro-style quick release (2575-120), pan handle (2575-137) and extension (2575-135), plus both a Mitchell base with tiedown and a 150mm ball base with tiedown.
