Violectric Niimbus US 5 Reference Headphone Amplifier
Niimbus is the reference line built alongside Violectric at cma audio, and the US 5 is its headphone amplifier. It runs a 60 V internal operating voltage, which is what produces the output voltage swing that high-impedance headphones need before they open up, and the output stages deliver more current than even low-impedance planar designs draw.
Internal gain is deliberately small, so the amplifier contributes very little noise of its own, and output impedance is low enough that the damping factor stays high and the headphone frequency response is left alone. Level runs through an ALPS RK27 potentiometer behind an illuminated aluminum knob. A remote control and manual ship in the box.
