Sony RM-B170 Handheld Remote Control Unit
The Sony RM-B170 is a compact handheld remote control, the successor to the RM-B150, built for straightforward remote operation of Sony studio cameras and camcorders without the cost or footprint of a full shading panel. It handles the moves a camera operator needs most: automatic black and white balance, on/off control of Extended Clear Scan and the electronic shutter, plus adjustment of ECS frequency and shutter speed, and it can set the accumulated frame count for cameras equipped with the Slow Shutter function.
It connects directly to a camera or camcorder as a portable remote, or plugs into a CCU to work as a simple remote-control panel from a nearby position, reaching up to 100 meters over the included 10-meter 8-pin interconnect remote cable (with a compatible extension). Two AA batteries power the unit, buttons around safety-critical controls carry a raised guard to prevent accidental hits, and Superluminosity LEDs on the operation buttons stay readable in both bright and dark environments.
