Sony HDC-P50A 4K/HD Global Shutter POV System Camera
The Sony HDC-P50A is a compact, multi-purpose point-of-view camera that packs a 3-chip 2/3-inch 4K CMOS global shutter sensor into a body small enough for stabilizer rigs, aerial mounts, and handheld operation, while still outputting true QFHD (3840 x 2160) or HD (1920 x 1080) broadcast-grade images. The custom digital signal processing behind that sensor delivers high sensitivity and low noise even in the tight, fast-moving shots this camera is built for - sports coverage, crane work, and any position too small or too mobile for a full studio camera body.
High frame rate is a core feature, not an afterthought: it outputs HD HFR up to 6x directly from its own SDI, and up to 8x once connected to a CCU, with 4K HFR up to 4x available through a CCU connection as well, so replay and super-slow-motion coverage stay in the same signal chain as the live program feed. One SDI monitor output plus three additional SDI outputs cover monitoring and distribution, and 1080p (4K with a license) can go straight onto an IP network or to a CCU for single-mode fiber transmission over long runs. Dual optical filter wheels for neutral density and color correction, plus support for the ITU-R BT.2020 wide color gamut, round out a camera built to match a truck's main studio cameras rather than look like an obvious POV add-on.
