Sony HDVF-EL740 7.4-inch Full HD OLED Viewfinder
The HDVF-EL740 puts a 1920 x 1080 panel in a 7.4-inch OLED viewfinder, which is what makes accurate focus possible when the camera is shooting 4K. It is aimed at Sony portable system cameras and shoulder-type XDCAM camcorders. A new digital interface carries 1080p directly from current HDC series bodies over the dedicated cable, and the traditional analog viewfinder interface is retained for earlier cameras and camcorders.
Practical details matter on a viewfinder this size. Boosted Brightness Mode lifts the panel to 700 cd/m2 for outdoor work, colour temperature adjusts from 3200K to 9500K in 100K steps, and a switchable flicker suppression function deals with low vertical frequency sources. A 3G-SDI input accepts an external 1080i/p picture separate from the camera feed, and DC and red tally inputs let the viewfinder run standalone. Camera head menus can be driven from the viewfinder panel, two bezel switches are assignable, and a waveform monitor can be shown in the sub-display. A hood, number plate, cleaning cloth and 20-pin connection cable are supplied.
