Sennheiser AMBEO VR Mic Ambisonic Microphone
A 360 video that sounds like it came from one direction breaks the illusion immediately. The AMBEO VR Mic records a first-order ambisonic soundfield instead: four matched cardioid capsules arranged in a tetrahedron, output in A-format, which converts to B-format and then to whatever the delivery platform wants, with the listener's head orientation applied at playback.
All four capsules are pre-polarized condensers running 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 31 mV/Pa, with 130 dB(A) maximum SPL and 18 dB(A) of self-noise, and the four channels are matched so the decode does not fight capsule variation. Power is four channels of P48 at 3.5 mA. Connection is a DIN12M on the body with an adapter cable breaking out to four XLR-3M, so it records to any four-input interface or field recorder. The body is 215 mm long and 49 mm at its widest.
