sE Electronics DynaCaster DCM8 Dynamic Broadcast Microphone
The DynaCaster DCM8 is a large cardioid dynamic built for voice: podcast, broadcast and streaming. Its defining feature is the phantom-powered gain stage inside the body, which lifts sensitivity from 2.0 to 60 mV/Pa. That is the difference between needing an inline preamp on a quiet interface and not needing one, and it means the mic drops the noise floor rather than raising it.
The capsule is a dynamic with an aluminium voice coil and a neodymium magnet, running 20 Hz to 19 kHz. At 850 g and 220 mm it wants a broadcast arm rather than a desk tripod. An external windscreen, thread adapter and manual are in the box.
