Kramer VM-4UX

The VM-4UX takes one broadcast SDI feed and hands back four clean copies of it. It auto-adapts to whatever rate the source is running, anywhere from 270 Mbps SD up to a 12 Gbps 12G-SDI stream carrying 4K at 60Hz (4:2:2), equalizes the incoming signal, and re-clocks it on the way out, so each of the four outputs leaves the box with a rebuilt signal rather than a tired one. Embedded audio channels, ancillary ID and metadata ride through untouched. Front-panel LEDs report the detected rate (12G/6G, HD 1.5/3G, or SD) plus lock and power, so you can see what the unit is actually receiving without a scope.

Everything lands on lockable 75-ohm BNC connectors, which keeps a coax run from being pulled loose mid-show. Kramer rates the equalized input reach at up to 80m (260ft) at 12Gbps, 100m (330ft) at 3G and 6G, 200m (660ft) at 1.5G HD, and 300m (980ft) at SD on its own cable. The outputs are paired (OUT 1 with OUT 2, OUT 3 with OUT 4); if you use only one of a pair, cap its partner with one of the two supplied 75-ohm terminators. The fanless Pico TOOLS chassis runs from an external 5V supply and can sit on a shelf, mount above a ceiling, or go into a rack with the optional RK-3T adapter. It ships with the power supply, a mounting bracket kit, rubber feet, and the two male BNC terminators.
