Shure BETA91A
The Beta 91A is a condenser boundary microphone purpose-built for kick drum and other loud, bass-heavy sources. It lays flat inside the drum or on the stage floor, using the boundary surface as part of its pickup, and its half-cardioid pattern delivers maximum gain before feedback while rejecting off-axis sound from the rest of the kit. The tailored low-frequency response gives a kick the punch and attack that cuts through a dense mix, and it handles piano, cajon, and upright bass with the same authority.
An integrated preamplifier and a low-profile housing keep the whole package inside the shell, and a two-position contour switch lets you scoop the mids for a modern click or leave it flat for a rounder tone. It runs on standard phantom power and connects through a 3-pin XLR output.
