DPA Microphones DPA MMC4017 Shotgun Pencil Microphone Capsule
The MMC4017 is the shotgun capsule from the 4017B: a supercardioid element behind a short interference tube, giving a lobe-shaped pattern that reaches without the metallic off-axis colouration that longer tubes tend to produce. Its low self-noise is what makes it useful for distant dialogue and for sports positions where the subject is a long way off.
It is a capsule for the modular system rather than a finished microphone. Fit it to an MMP-A for a conventional phantom-powered shotgun, or to an MMP-E active cable when the mic has to be rigged in a fixed position. Specifications are quoted for the capsule measured as a complete 4017B.
