Opticis M1-3R2VI-DU Optical Dual Link DVI Extension Module
The M1-3R2VI-DU extends dual link DVI over optical fibre, replacing a copper run that would have given up long before the distance is covered. The set is a transmitter and a receiver module, each with a female dual link DVI-D connector, so a source and a display connect with ordinary DVI-D copper leads at each end. Four LC or two duplex LC fibres carry the three colour channels per link plus the clock.
Resolution reaches WQXGA 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz. With DDC2B over a Cat5e run the reach is 100 m; using the module self-EDID programming instead, which reads the display EDID once and stores it in the transmitter, the link runs to 2 km on pure fibre with no copper DDC path at all. Single-mode and multi-mode fibre both work, there is no software to install, and the optical path emits no EMI or RFI. Certified FCC/CE and Class 1 laser eye safety.
