Martin Audio FlexPoint FP6 6" Coaxial Point Source Loudspeaker

FP6 is the small FlexPoint, a passive two-way coaxial cabinet with a 6" neodymium LF driver and a 0.7" exit compression driver on a 1.4" HT polymer dome. Rather than bolt a horn in front of the cone, Martin Audio built the waveguide into the magnet structure and shaped the asymmetric LF cone to complete it, which keeps the wavefront clean and avoids the HF beaming that afflicts through-the-pole coaxial designs. Coverage is 100 degrees horizontal by 80 degrees vertical with constant directivity across the horizontal.

The practical trick is orientation. Quick-release grille latches and captive thumbwheels let you loosen the driver by hand, rotate it 90 degrees and retighten, so the same box works portrait on a wall, landscape over a doorway, or tipped up as a low-profile stage monitor. The birch ply enclosure is IP54 rated when fitted with two speakON NLT4FXX connectors and carries four M10 points, fifteen M6 points and a 3/8" mic-stand thread for yoke, bracket, truss and stand mounting. Drive it from an iKON amplifier, or from VIA amplifiers with a DX4.0, DX0.4 or DX0.6 controller.
