Lowell SS48 Channel Rails, 48-Inch, Pair
SS48 is the long pair in Lowell's channel-rail range, at 48.00 inches, for spanning the full length of a 2x4 tile opening. Like the shorter rails it distributes a ceiling speaker's weight to the ceiling support structure, so the tile is not carrying it and does not sag around the speaker.
Construction is formed 16-gauge galvanized steel - heavier than the 20-gauge SS24, which is what the longer unsupported span asks for. The rails are punched for screw-mounting a recessed backbox and for seismic anchoring where code requires it, and mounting hardware is included. Made in the U.S.A. and sold as a pair.
