Avantone Pro MixCube Active Mini Reference Monitor
The MixCube Active is a self-powered 6.5 in cube built around one proprietary 5.25 in driver on a cast aluminum frame with a paper cone, magnetically shielded, in a sealed 18 mm MDF enclosure stuffed with Dacron. There is no tweeter and no port, and that is the point: the accessible range is 200 Hz to 10 kHz, so everything you hear is the midrange where vocals, snare, and guitars fight each other. Engineers keep a cube on the desk next to a full-range pair to hear what survives when the bottom and the top are gone.
A Class A/B amplifier inside each cabinet delivers 60 watts RMS at 0.005 percent THD, reaching 104 dB SPL at one meter, and the nominal load is 8 ohms. Input is a single combo jack taking XLR at +4 dBu balanced or TRS at -10 unbalanced, so it drops straight onto an interface output without a separate power amp. Each cabinet weighs 7.13 lb and measures 6.5 by 6.5 by 6.5 in. Avantone sells them singly and in pairs, in creme, black, and red.
