Avantone Pro Mix Tower Active 3-Way Dual-Mode Studio Monitor

The Mix Tower solves the desk-space problem that comes with keeping MixCubes next to a full-range pair. Avantone mounted the MixCube driver in an isolated enclosure with the cube's exact internal dimensions and built a three-way tower around it, so one cabinet gives you both references. In MixCube mode the driver runs full range with no crossover in the path, the narrow midrange voice that tells you what a mix does on a television or a car stereo. In three-way mode the same driver is crossed at 120 Hz and 8 kHz and handed off to an air motion transformer above and a woofer below, and the accessible range opens to 45 Hz - 38 kHz. A supplied footswitch changes modes, so you can flip while you are actually EQ-ing rather than getting up.

Amplification is Class HD: 100 W RMS each to the high and mid sections and 200 W to the low, for 106 dB SPL at one meter on pink noise and 108 dB at 1 kHz, with signal to noise at -113 dB A-weighted. The high-frequency unit is a 3,640 sq mm air motion transformer; the MixCube driver is the same 5.25 in cast-aluminum-frame paper cone with a 25 mm voice coil Avantone uses in the cube itself. The cabinet is bass-reflex 18 mm MDF with polyester stuffing, 190 W x 475 H x 255 D mm, 23.3 lb. Inputs take XLR or TRS at +4 dBu balanced or -10 unbalanced. Each monitor ships with the footswitch, the 1/4 in bridge cable and an external power supply, under a five-year limited warranty. Sold singly or as a pair, in creme or black.
