CLA-10 Passive re-creates the iconic white-cone reference monitor that generations of mix engineers used to judge how a mix would translate on ordinary speakers, built physically and sonically identical to the original rather than a reinterpretation. It requires an external power amplifier, matching how the original was used in most studios.

A TPC (Variable Tissue Paper Control) switch cuts the high-frequency driver's output by 2 dB, reproducing the old trick of taping tissue paper over the tweeter without touching the cabinet. Precisely matched frequency voicing between the pair keeps translation consistent, and the AV10-MLF woofer and AV10-MHF tweeter used inside are the same parts sold separately as replacement drivers.
