Electro-Voice RSB-2 Referee Mute Switch

The RSB-2 is the toggle mute switch American football referees wear, and it is the standard fitting for that job. It plugs inline between a lavalier or headworn microphone and the bodypack transmitter, so the official can open and close the mic without touching the pack or the mic itself.

The point of it is the switching, not the switch: the mute is noiseless, with no click or pop going to air, which is why it survives on a live broadcast. The toggle is large and positive enough to work by feel, and the belt clip mounts on either the right or left hip. REV-WT and WTU-2 bodypacks recognise the RSB-2 automatically; older transmitters need the referee version of the pack. Connections are TA4 in and TA4 out, so any EV or Telex lavalier and bodypack pairing will take it.
