ESE ES718 SMPTE/EBU Reader/Event Controller
The ES-718 pairs an 8-digit SMPTE/EBU time code reader with two 8-digit thumbwheel comparators, so it both displays running code and acts on it. It auto-detects and reads SMPTE or EBU in either direction from 1/20 to 10x play-speed, with error detection and correction that keeps the readout flicker-free through poor code.
The two thumbwheel comparators let an operator dial in target times; when the incoming code matches, the unit fires contact-closure relay outputs, which is how the ES-700-series event controllers automate cues and switching at exact time-code points. It fits a 19-inch rack (1.75 in H, 9.5 in D), draws 15 watts, and offers battery back-up, NTP, and additional relay outputs as options.
