Sennheiser MZG 8000 Swivel Joint

The MZG 8000 is a swivel joint designed for desktop mounting an MKH 8000 series microphone. Used together with the MZS 31 elastic suspension, it lets the mic head be angled precisely at a desk or table while the joint itself carries the audio signal.

It also provides the physical connector for the XLR module, so the swivel joint does double duty as both the aiming mechanism and part of the signal path rather than just a passive mounting bracket.
