Laowa Proteus 2X 60mm T2 Anamorphic Prime
The Laowa Proteus 2X 60mm is a Super 35 anamorphic prime that holds a true 2x squeeze at every focus distance, so a subject keeps its shape as it moves toward the lens instead of stretching into anamorphic mumps. On a 4:3 or 6:5 sensor it de-squeezes to 2.66:1 or 2.4:1, and it covers up to 21.6 mm of image height, which takes in the Alexa 35 as well as most Super 35 bodies.
The iris runs T2 to T22 and close focus is 55 cm, near enough for a tight single on the 60mm without a diopter. Order it in Amber, Blue or Silver flare and in a feet or metres focus scale; the 300 degree throw, 0.8 mod gears and unified gear positions mean it swaps with any other Proteus focal length without re-rigging the motors. The mount is Arri PL with an interchangeable Canon EF bayonet, and a lens support ships in the box.
