Sony HDC-3500V 2/3-inch 4K Portable System Camera with Variable ND
The HDC-3500V is the variable-ND version of Sony's HDC-3500 portable system camera. Three 2/3-inch 4K CMOS sensors with a global shutter sit behind an F1.4 prism, so fast pans and strobed stadium lighting do not produce the skew or banding a rolling shutter would. The variable ND filter is fitted at the factory in place of discrete ND steps, which lets a shader ride exposure from 1/3 to 1/256 with no visible filter change on air, and gives the operator a way to open the iris for shallow depth of field in bright light.
The viewfinder slide mechanism is pre-installed as well, so a 7.4-inch viewfinder can be moved fore and aft toward the tripod's axis of rotation - useful on a tracked dolly or a cramped stadium platform. The camera connects to an HDCU-3500 series control unit over a LEMO 3K.93C hybrid fiber cable and supports HD 4x high frame rate with that CCU. Two SDI outputs plus SDI MONI and TEST OUT are on BNC, and the body carries a unified intercom panel, prompter and genlock, tracker and crane ports, a network TRUNK RJ-45, and USB.
