Sony HDC-3500L 4K CMOS Portable System Camera (Fiber, Head Only)
The Sony HDC-3500L is the fiber-operation version of Sony's HDC-3500 system camera, built around the same 2/3-inch 4K 3-CMOS global shutter sensor found in Sony's flagship HDC-5500, so productions get flagship-level image quality - 4K resolution, -62dB noise, F10/F11 sensitivity - at a lower system cost. Global shutter capture keeps fast motion and strobed light free of rolling-shutter artifacts, which is why this camera turns up on sports trucks and awards-show stages as often as it does in broadcast studios.
Fiber transmission over its LEMO connector is standard on the L configuration, so it connects straight to a compatible HDCU-3100, HDCU-3170, or HDCU-3500 series camera control unit without an add-on interface board. It supports Sony's SR Live workflow, producing simultaneous HDR and SDR program feeds from one camera and one operator, and the same magnesium-alloy/CFRP body construction as the rest of the HDC-3500 line keeps the head light enough for a shoulder rig while staying rigid on a pedestal. This listing is the camera head only; a CCU is required to operate it.
