The HDA-8100 doubles the HDA-4100: eight audio sources distributed to eight stereo zones or up to sixteen mono zones, at 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 200 watts into 4 ohms. Alongside eight RCA inputs it adds two coaxial digital inputs, which is what you want when a cable box or streamer is the source and you would rather not convert twice. Audio streams at 96 kHz / 24-bit with Dolby and DTS 5.1 downmixing.

Every zone has its own high pass and low pass filters and a full 5-band parametric EQ, so a whole-house or whole-venue system can be voiced room by room from one chassis. Two assignable pre-amp outputs feed a subwoofer or an external amplifier and two 12V triggers handle screens or shades. Units connect over gigabit Ethernet and multiple chassis link through the HDA-SW5 AVB network switch, scaling the system to 32 sources by 32 zones. The chassis is 17.125 inches wide by 3.875 inches high and weighs 12.8 lbs.
