URC SP-6EX 6.5-inch Two-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair)
The SP-6EX is the step-up 6.5 inch in-ceiling speaker in URC's architectural line, pairing a woven fiber cone woofer with a 1 inch aluminum dome tweeter that swivels toward the listening position. It is sold as a pair with a cutout template. Tweeter and woofer each have a three-position EQ adjustment at minus 3, 0, and plus 3 dB, which is what you want when the same model has to work in a hard-surfaced kitchen and a carpeted den.
Installation is the part installers notice. Speaker wire lands on removable terminals, the speaker goes into the cutout, and pushing the levers down engages the patented clamps against the drywall, so there is no screwdriver and no dogleg to fight. The grille is a frameless magnetic micromesh aluminum piece. Power handling is 5 to 125 watts at 8 ohms nominal, sensitivity is 92 dB, and response runs 45 Hz to 20 kHz. The frame is 9.45 inches in diameter and 3.98 inches deep, needs an 8.15 inch cutout, and suits ceilings 0.5 to 1.0 inch thick.
