Sony HDVF-EL780 7.4-inch Full HD OLED Viewfinder
The HDVF-EL780 is the studio-camera member of Sony's Full HD 7.4-inch OLED viewfinder family. Its distinguishing feature is installation: it mounts with a simple instant mechanism and needs no dedicated camera cable, which removes a step and a failure point when cameras are being rigged. A digital interface carries 1080p directly from current HDC series studio cameras including the HDC-5000, with the traditional analog interface kept for earlier bodies.
The 1920 x 1080 OLED panel gives the contrast and resolution needed to focus a 4K camera by eye, and an integral removable hood with a protective panel over the display handles outdoor glare. The counter-balanced lifting mechanism covers a wide up-and-down range, six assignable switches are spread across the handles and bezel, and camera head menus can be driven from the viewfinder panel. Boosted Brightness Mode lifts the panel to 700 cd/m2, colour temperature runs 3200K to 9500K in 100K steps, flicker suppression is operator-switchable, and the camera number can be shown on a dot matrix LED display. Note that combining the viewfinder with an HDLA saddle assembly works only over the analog interface.
