Teradek Spark HDMI Wireless Video
Spark 4K is Teradek's small, cheap way to get an HDMI picture off a camera and onto a monitor without a cable underfoot. The transmitter takes 4K30 at 10-bit 4:2:2 HDR over HDMI and sends it to a receiver up to 500 feet away in under a millisecond, which is short enough that a camera operator can frame off the wireless feed. One transmitter can serve two receivers, so the client and the director each get a monitor from a single radio. Both units use internal antennas and hold a 5 GHz link that hops frequencies to stay ahead of the venue Wi-Fi, with AES-128 encryption on the stream.
The two halves are sold separately and each is built for a different place on set. The transmitter carries an internal battery good for roughly two hours of transmission and takes USB-C for power, so it can ride on a hot shoe with nothing plugged into it. The receiver has no internal battery and runs from USB-C or a DC barrel connector off the included 18W adapter, which suits it to a stand or a monitor arm. The receiver is about the size of a cassette tape; the transmitter weighs 5.6 ounces.
