ESE ES463U Rack-Mount SMPTE/EBU Reader

The ESE ES-463U is a rack-mount time code display built around a bright 1.0-inch amber LED readout of eight digits. It reads both SMPTE and EBU time code with automatic detection and tracks the source bi-directionally from 1/20 up to 10 times play speed, so it stays locked whether a deck is shuttling, jogging or running at speed. It can show time in 12 or 24 hour format or display the user bits carried in the code.

An error detection and correction circuit keeps the display flicker-free even when the incoming code is marginal, a front-panel Hold button freezes the reading, and a rear toggle selects time or user bits. Options add a TC90 output on a rear BNC that drives up to 100 slave displays as far as 4000 feet away, and an RS-232 output on a DB-9 connector. The 3.5 by 19 inch enclosure runs on 110-120 VAC, with 220-240 VAC and UL options available.
