ESE ES496 Rack-Mount SMPTE/EBU VITC Reader

The ESE ES-496 is a rack-mount VITC time code display that reads SMPTE or EBU Vertical Interval Time Code straight from the video signal and shows it on a 1.0-inch amber LED readout of eight digits. EBU mode is selected on an internal DIP switch, and the unit chooses the VITC line either manually or with automatic line detection. Decimal points on the display flag field and drop-frame status, and the readout can show either time or user bits.

Video loops through the unit to another device, with switchable termination for the end of the chain, and a front-panel Hold button freezes the display. Options add a SMPTE/EBU longitudinal time code output, an RS-232 ASCII output, and a plus or minus one frame trim when the LTC option is fitted. It ships in a 3.5-inch-high rack-mount enclosure.
