ESE ES491 VITC Time Code Reader
The ES-491E reads and displays SMPTE or EBU Vertical Interval Time Code, with EBU selectable on an internal DIP switch. It shows eight digits of hours, minutes, seconds, and frames on a .56" high amber display, and decimal points on the readout indicate the video field and drop-frame mode. Video loops through the unit to another device, and a termination switch handles the case where the loop-thru is not needed.
An internal DIP switch selects the VITC video line or automatic line identification (first good line), and a hold function freezes the display. Optional outputs include SMPTE/EBU longitudinal time code (LTC) and RS-232 ASCII; with the LTC option a +/-1 frame switch compensates for different LTC display types. Rackmount, a UL-approved power supply, and the added outputs are available options.
