ESE ES453U Desktop SMPTE/EBU Timecode Display
The ES-453U is a microprocessor-based SMPTE timecode display that reads code in both directions, from a twentieth of play speed up to ten times play speed, so it stays readable whether a machine is jogging, shuttling, or running flat out. Eight .56-inch yellow LED digits show hours, minutes, seconds, and frames, or switch to display the user bits carried alongside the time. It ships in a desktop case, with a rack-mount chassis available as an option.
Error handling keeps the readout usable off poor code: an error bypass and error indicator flag dropouts, a drop-frame indicator shows the mode in play, and a Hold control freezes the display. Two output options extend its reach. The ESE Time Code output puts TC89 hours, minutes, and seconds on a rear BNC that can drive up to 100 slave displays as far as 4000 feet away, and an RS-232 option outputs time, user bits, and flag bits once per frame in ESE Format C on a rear DB-9.
