ESE ES-455U SMPTE / EBU Time Code Reader and Video Inserter
The ES-455U takes an external SMPTE/EBU time code feed and superimposes it onto a video signal looped through the unit, eight digits of hours, minutes, seconds and frames plus eight user bit digits. On-screen menus set the size, position and mask mode of the window, so the burn-in can be tucked out of frame on one job and made legible across the room on the next, with a black background switched on or off and the display either keyed or transparent.
Character and background brightness are set independently from the front panel, anywhere from black to white, and the display can be blanked entirely without pulling the unit out of the path. Time and user bits show side-by-side or stacked, or either one alone. Reading is bi-directional from 1/30 to 30x play speed, limited in practice by the player's own time code performance, and settings survive a power cycle on battery back-up. One BNC video input and two BNC video outputs are standard, with optional S-Video configuration and an optional RS-232 interface with Windows control panel software for remote control of the display modes.
