Count the inputs you need and then look at what else the box has to do at the same time, because on a live show the switcher is rarely only switching. It is usually also recording isolated feeds, holding the graphics, feeding a stream and sending a clean output to the room, and each of those is a resource the same unit is spending.

Isolated recordings are the one worth insisting on. A show cut live with every camera also recorded separately can be rebuilt afterwards; the same show recorded only as the programme output cannot.
