Tascam DA-6400 64-Channel Digital Multitrack Recorder
The DA-6400 records and plays 64 channels at 48 kHz or 32 channels at 96 kHz, all at 24-bit, straight to BWF files on a removable 2.5 inch SSD. Solid-state media is the point: there is no head, no spindle and no vibration sensitivity, which is what makes it usable on a stage deck or in a broadcast truck rather than only in a machine room.
The card slot takes any of the TASCAM interface cards, so the same recorder can front a Dante network, a MADI ring, AES/EBU or analog I/O depending on the facility. Two units cascade for 128 channels, playlist and theater playback modes are built in, and an AK-CC25 caddy with a 240GB TASCAM SSD ships with the unit.
