Shure MX393 Boundary Microphones

The MX393/C is the cardioid model in Shure's Microflex boundary line, a slim electret condenser that mounts flush to a table or podium and picks up speech across a conference or meeting room. The cardioid cartridge favors the talkers in front of it and turns its back on wall reflections and HVAC noise behind, so a handful of these across a boardroom table deliver clear, even coverage. A programmable membrane switch on the top surface can be set for push-to-talk, push-to-mute, or on/off operation, with an LED that shows the mic's live status.

Because the cartridge screws in, the same base accepts supercardioid or omnidirectional elements when a room's layout calls for a different pickup. The microphone connects through a miniature 3-pin (TA3F) connector to a detachable 3.7 m (12 ft) cable that terminates in a standard XLR, and it runs on 11 to 52 V phantom power. The balanced, transformerless output resists hum and RF interference over long installed cable runs.
