Shure KSM313Dual-Voice Ribbon Microphone
The KSM313/NE is Shure's dual-voice ribbon microphone, a bidirectional (figure-8) mic that captures the warm, natural detail ribbons are prized for while shrugging off the fragility that usually comes with them. Its ribbon is Roswellite, a proprietary material with the tensile strength and shape memory to survive the extreme SPLs of a cranked guitar cabinet or a close-miked brass section, so it holds up where a traditional foil ribbon would stretch or tear.
Dual-voice means the front and rear of the figure-8 pattern are voiced differently: one side is tuned for the aggression of amplified instruments, the other for intimate, smooth vocal work, so a single mic covers two very different jobs by simply turning it around. It responds from 30 to 15,000 Hz and handles up to 146 dB SPL. The mic ships with an A300M ShureLock stand mount and an AK313C zippered carrying case.
