Shure MX184
The MX184 is the supercardioid member of Shure's Microflex lavalier family, a miniature condenser built for hands-free speech in lectures, broadcast, theater, and houses of worship. The supercardioid pattern focuses tightly on the wearer's voice and rejects more off-axis room sound than a cardioid or omni lav, which is what you want when a stage is loud or feedback is a risk. Like the rest of the Microflex lavaliers it uses interchangeable condenser cartridges, so the same preamp can be moved between cardioid, supercardioid, and omni capsules.
A thin 4 foot cable runs from the mic to a belt-clip in-line preamp that terminates in a standard 3-pin XLR, ready for a mixer or recorder supplying phantom power, and the same TA4F-terminated mic also drops onto Shure wireless bodypacks. It ships with the belt-clip preamp, a rotatable single tie clip, a dual tie clip for redundant miking, and a snap-fit windscreen.
