Running a handheld recorder on batteries is fine until it is bolted into a lectern or left recording a two-hour service. The PS-P520U is Tascam's own mains supply for that job: universal AC 100 to 240 V in, DC 5.0 V at 2 A out, in a 38 by 58 by 31 mm body that weighs 53 g and does not hog the outlet strip.

What makes it worth stocking rather than reaching for a generic charger is the cable set. Type-A to C, Type-A to micro-B and Type-A to DC leads all come in the box, so the same adapter powers a Portacapture X8 or X6, a DR-10L Pro, the DR-05XP / 07XP / 40XP, the older micro-B DR-X series and DR-10 body packs, the MiNiSTUDIO and US-1x2 interfaces, and DC-input units such as the DR-100MKII, DP-006, DP-008EX and US-2x2HR.
