Sony ECM-VG1 Short Shotgun Condenser Microphone
The ECM-VG1 is Sony's lightest professional shotgun at 66 grams, which is the point of it: on a compact camcorder it does not tip the body forward, and on a boom pole it can be held steady for far longer than a heavier mic. The capsule is a mono electret condenser with a supercardioid pattern and a 40 Hz to 20 kHz response.
Self-noise is 18 dB SPL or less with 107 dB of dynamic range, so it stays clean on quiet dialogue, and the supplied windscreen brings wind noise down to 45 dB SPL or less for exposed outdoor work. It runs on 40 to 52 V phantom through an XLR-3-12C male connector; the XLR cable is not supplied. A mic holder, mic spacer and two stand adaptors ship with it.
