Sony DWM-30 DWX Gen3 Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone Transmitter
The DWM-30 is Sony's Gen3 DWX handheld transmitter. Like the DWM-02N it arrives without a capsule so the head can be matched to the job, taking the CU-C31 condenser cardioid, the CU-F31 dynamic supercardioid, the CU-F32 dynamic wide cardioid, or a third-party capsule already in the mic locker. The Gen3 radio tunes continuously in 25 kHz steps across a wide UHF span, which is what makes a dense channel plan possible in a crowded metro RF environment.
Gain handling is the practical upgrade: switchable high gain of +18, +12 or +6 dB sits ahead of a 0 to 42 dB attenuator in 3 dB steps, so a quiet speaker and a loud vocalist can both be set correctly at the mic. A fourth codec mode joins the existing three, with distortion at 0.03 percent or less in modes 1, 2 and 4, and audio delay as low as 0.7 msec. The OLED display and Cross Remote control carry over, and two AA alkaline cells run it.
