Sony ECM-55B Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone
The ECM-55B is an omnidirectional electret condenser lavalier built for broadcast, sound reinforcement, and field recording where a wide, even pickup pattern matters more than off-axis rejection. Its 30 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response and 98 dB dynamic range keep dialogue clean and full across a range of voices and room conditions, and the small capsule clips discreetly to a lapel or costume without drawing attention on camera.
An inline power unit is built into the 9.8-foot cable, terminating in a standard 3-pin XLR connector, so the ECM-55B runs straight into a mixer or camera input on either its internal battery or 12 to 48 VDC phantom power. That flexibility makes it a straightforward drop-in for houses of worship, theater, and ENG kits already carrying phantom-powered inputs.
