Sony ECM-673 Short Shotgun Condenser Microphone
The ECM-673 is Sony's short shotgun for field and studio production. At about 135 grams it is light enough to leave on a boom through a long day, and the short interference tube keeps it out of a wide frame while still rejecting enough of the room to make dialogue usable. Self-noise of 17 dB SPL or less and a 107 dB dynamic range are the numbers that matter on quiet interior interviews.
The capsule is a mono electret condenser with a supercardioid pattern and a 40 Hz to 20 kHz response, running on 40 to 52 V phantom through an XLR-3-12C male connector. It ships with a windscreen, two stand adaptors and a short XLR-to-XLR cable for mounting directly on a camcorder.
