Shure QLXD2 SM87
The QLXD2/SM87 is Shure's QLX-D handheld transmitter built around the SM87A capsule, a supercardioid condenser tuned for lead vocals. The condenser element gives a voice more detail and top-end air than a dynamic, while the supercardioid pattern tightens pickup on the singer and rejects monitor and PA bleed to hold back feedback on a loud stage. IR sync pairs the transmitter to a QLX-D receiver at the push of a button, and AES-256 encryption keeps the audio link private.
The QLX-D system transmits at a selectable 1 or 10 mW over a 100 meter line-of-sight range with 24-bit digital audio. Two AA alkaline cells deliver up to 9 hours of use, and the optional SB900B lithium-ion battery reports remaining runtime in hours and minutes for docked or in-transmitter charging. The capsule is interchangeable with other Shure QLX-D microphone heads.
