Shure QLXD2 B87A

The Shure QLXD2/B87A is the handheld transmitter for the QLX-D digital wireless system, fitted with a Beta 87A supercardioid condenser capsule. The Beta 87A brings a smooth, detailed condenser sound with a presence rise that helps a lead vocal cut through a live mix, while its tight supercardioid pattern rejects monitor and PA bleed to hold back feedback on a loud stage. QLX-D transmits transparent 24-bit digital audio with a 120 dB dynamic range and just 2.9 ms of latency, so the wireless link stays out of the way of the performance.

Setup is quick: an infrared window syncs the transmitter to its receiver at the push of a button, and the system offers a 64 MHz tuning bandwidth with up to 2560 selectable frequencies for interference-free operation. AES-256 encryption keeps the transmission secure. The aluminum housing runs up to 9 hours on two AA batteries, or accepts the optional SB900B lithium-ion rechargeable pack that reports remaining runtime in hours and minutes. The capsule is interchangeable with other Shure QLX-D handheld cartridges.
