Rode NTG2 Dual-power Shotgun Microphone
The RODE NTG2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone with a supercardioid, line-gradient pattern that reaches past the noise around a subject to pick up focused dialogue from in front. It is a mainstay of film, video, television and location work, riding on a boompole or camera to capture clean speech while rejecting side and rear spill, and a switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter trims wind and handling rumble at the source.
Its defining convenience is dual powering: the NTG2 runs from P48 phantom power or a single 1.5V AA battery, so it works on a mixer, a camera or in the field with no external supply. At about 161 grams it stays balanced on a boom for long takes, and it ships with a stand mount, a windshield and a zip pouch.
