Rode NTG5 Location Recording Kit
The NTG5 is RODE's short shotgun for location sound, and its acoustic design breaks with the usual slotted interference tube: a circular array of ports gives a very natural, uncoloured off-axis response, so a boom that drifts off the actor does not suddenly sound thin. It is 203mm long and weighs 76 grams, which matters over a long day on a pole.
The RF-bias condenser capsule is supercardioid with 10dB SPL of self-noise, an 84dB signal-to-noise ratio and a 130dB maximum SPL, running on 2mA at 48V phantom power. The kit ships as a location package with the PG2-R pistol grip and shock mount, a windshield, a boom mount and a cable.
