Rode PG2-R Pistol Grip with Shock Mount
The PG2-R is the pistol grip for RODE shotgun microphones, and the reason to reach for it over a bare mic clip is the pair of Rycote Lyre mounts. The Lyres suspend the microphone in a molded thermoplastic web that absorbs the grip, knuckle, and cable noise a rigid clip transmits straight into the capsule. Four mounting points let you slide the mic forward or back to balance it, which matters when the barrel is long and the operator is holding the shot.
It is light enough to carry through a run-and-gun day and comfortable in the hand, and the 3/8-inch thread at the base drops it onto a boompole or a microphone stand when the shot goes static. Cable mounting points run through the body, with a dedicated channel for the PG2-R Pro Cable so the connector terminates flush at the base and hands off cleanly to an XLR run. It measures 240 x 60 x 117 mm and weighs 224 g.
