RDL AV-HK1X Mono Transformer Isolation, Balanced Line
The RDL AV-HK1X is a mono transformer isolation module that breaks the ground-loop connection responsible for hum in a balanced sound system. A studio-quality audio transformer provides galvanic isolation between input and output, so two pieces of gear on different grounds can share a signal without the buzz that a shared ground path introduces. It handles balanced line audio at a nominal +4 dBu and holds a very flat response well past the audio band.
Input and output are on gold-plated XLR jacks. The shield (pin 1) of the input is electrically isolated from the case and from the output ground at audio frequencies, while still providing a radio-frequency ground return so the module does not become an RF antenna. It is compact and rugged, and a mounting bracket is included for fixed installations.
