Hiwatt DR88 Head
The DR88 runs a pair of KT88s where most Hiwatts run EL34s, and that valve choice is the point: a rounder, silkier character with the same instant response, built for bass and equally at home with down-tuned and baritone guitars.
Three ECC83s and an ECC81 make up the preamp. Normal and Brilliant channels each have high- and low-impedance inputs, and a post-phase-inverter master volume joins the usual master, giving control over where in the chain the amp saturates. Outputs are two 1/4-inch jacks plus a Speakon, with 4, 8 and 16 ohm settings on the rear.
