Hiwatt DR103 Head
The DR103 is the amp the Hiwatt name rests on: Dave Reeves' late-1960s 100-watt circuit, hand-wired, four ECC83s in front of four EL34s, and enough clean headroom that a pedal arrives at the speaker sounding like itself.
Normal and Bright channels each get their own high- and low-impedance input, so a dark humbucker and a shrill single-coil each have a jack that suits them. Jump the two channels with a short patch lead and the independent volumes become a tone control of their own, which is the sound Hiwatt is known for. The rear-panel selector sets 4, 8 or 16 ohms.
