Hiwatt Super-HI 50

The Custom Super-Hi 50 is what happens when heavy-metal amp designer Mike Fortin hot-rods a Hiwatt: four cascading gain stages on a classic Hiwatt chassis, aimed squarely at drop tunings and extended-range instruments.

String definition, punch and a tight bottom end are what the design chases, so the amp stays readable when the tuning goes down. There is one input, and the two gain channels are switched from the Custom Shop Super-Hi footswitch that ships with it; each channel has its own gain and master volume. Four ECC83s feed two EL34s, with 4, 8 and 16 ohm settings on the rear panel.
